The Acceptance of the Pollák Donation (16-19 October 2023)

On 1 September 2023, following the photo-documented information sent by Monica Pollak and engineer Ferenc Incze from Germany, László Dub, president of the Jewish community in Târgu Mureș, presented a proposal to the board regarding the acceptance of Andreas Pollak's collection of Jewish-themed artworks, requesting approval to bring the collection to Târgu Mureș. He presented the collection (using photographs) and the associated transportation costs. Two options were analyzed:

a) transporting the collection by community vehicle;

b) renting a transport vehicle and traveling to Ratingen (the collection's location) via Affaltrach (the Incze family's residence).

As the weight of the (bronze) exhibition items was estimated at 600-700 kg, they opted for the second option.Thus, the community president, along with Dezső Rosenberg, departed for Ratingen on 16 October 2023, and returned with the collection consisting of 21 bronze sculptures and 8 engravings and paintings on 19 October 2023 at midnight, after a successful journey not without surprises.We would like to express our gratitude to our hosts, the Ferenc Incze family, for their hospitality, and to Mrs. Monica Pollak for her assistance in Germany, who not only provided meals, breakfast, and accommodation for us at a hotel in Ratingen but also helped with packing the collection.The expenses, including the travel costs of László Dub and Mr. Dezső Rosenberg, were covered by the community's own resources.
