On October 9th, the Romanian Day of Commemoration for Jewish Victims, candles were lit at the Holocaust memorial in Târgu Mureș in memory of the 6 million European Jews, including the Romanian victims. At the event, prayers were recited in Hebrew and Romanian. History teacher Prozan Mircea-Dumitru gave a surprisingly accurate presentation about the pogroms in Romania. The commemoration was attended by the Jewish community of Târgu Mureș and its president, Dr. László Dub, Zoltán Soós, Mayor of Târgu Mureș, Mihály-Levente Kovács, Vice President of the Mureș County Council, and Dr. Ovidiu Butuc, the Prefect.
