International Holocaust Remembrance Day
2025-01-28

This year, on January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a group from our community combined the commemoration with a film screening. In the film "Ambassador of Remembrance" (directed by Magdalena Zelasko), Stanislaw Zalewski, a member of a Polish resistance group, recalls the events he endured. In 1943, at the age of 17, he was arrested in Warsaw, sentenced to forced labor, and sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau and Mauthausen camps, eventually ending up in Gusen, where he worked in an arms factory. The "main character" is now 99 years old and, after many years of silence, decided to speak about his experiences to ensure that such horrors are never repeated.

Unfortunately, there is no visual material because, although it was Monday, the camera "called in sick" (did not work).
